Learn More About Chef Anne Burrell in Worst Cooks in America

On January 4th, 2015, viewers will have the chance to watch the season premiere of the sixth season of Worst Cooks in America. Worst Cook in America back for sixth season of culinary boot camp. While we know some a few things about Burrell on the show, it is important to learn more about her background as a chef and how she became the famous culinary artist she is today.

Growing up in upstate New York, Anne’s passion for food and cooking began at an early age. After garnering an English and Communication degree from Canisius College in New York, Burrell  went for her dream by entering  the restaurant business.She attended the Culinary Institute of America where post-graduation, she spent twelve months in Italy attending the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners.

As she worked at La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria and La Bottega del’ 30, a 30-seat eatery that provides solely one seating a night in Tuscany. As time passed, Anne flourished to truly appreciate and understand the philosophy of Italian cookery and culture, which left an enduring influence on her culinary perspective.

After gaining a position at Italian Wine Merchants, she met Chef Mario Batali. Once Batali became famous with Food Network’s Iron Chefs, he asked Burrell to become his sous chef since he knew of her flair for food. Ever since then, Anne’s fame took off to where it earned her spot as one of the competing cooks on Worst Cooks in America. Check out Burrell as she goes against Chef Tyler Florence.
